This pendant is an exact replica of the Dutch Gouden Tientje, the iconic ten-guilder coin once used in everyday life and later treasured as a keepsake. Over time, many women had their coins set in decorative bezels to wear them as jewelry - each design a little different, each one personal.
Every detail is preserved - from Queen Wilhelmina’s portrait to the fine edge detailing - capturing the look and feel of the original coin.
The only difference? The year.
It features the date of her 1898 inauguration - when she turned 18 and officially became Queen of the Netherlands after years under her mother’s regency. She had already taken the throne at just 10, after her father’s passing. A subtle detail that connects this pendant to a powerful moment in history.
For me, this one is personal.
It’s inspired by an original coin I received from my mom. Today, it connects three generations - our second daughter’s middle name, Mina, is a nod to Wilhelmina and to her grandmother.
Although it’s known as the Gouden Tientje (the golden tenner), we offer it in both gold and silver - so you can style it your way.
